Beautiful Lavender Fields

The lavender plant is grown for extraction of lavender oil from the flowers.

It's funny that some of the other commenters said that they could fall asleep in the field. That's the first thing I thought of too when I saw the pictures. Where were the pics taken?

Usually Lavender fields are in France.

The little house in the last picture is just outside of Franchoek in the Western Cape, South Africa. It is surrounded by mountains in the winelands near Cape Town. We have long admired this little cottage - even before the lavender fields were planted. It stands between two huge old oak trees just off the road into Franschoek from the Paarl/Stellenbosch side. Lucille Edwards
