German Prison Hotel

The Alcatraz Hotel in the western city of Kaiserslautern, Germany. Former German prison turned into hotel offers guests a jailhouse feeling, with a possibility of walking out whenever they like.

Two lawyers bought the former jail in the western German city of Kaiserslautern. From the cell-like bedrooms, to the hotel bar behind bars, "Alcatraz's" owners say they've kept the original spirit of the building.

Just like in prison, the hotel bathrooms aren't separate from the bedrooms. So what kind of people want to pay around 50 euros, or just over 70 U.S dollars, to sleep next to a toilet bowl?

I think the homeless would be better off in prison!

A prison may never like home for prisoners. So facilities are good but it is not an alternate of the home.

for me, this prison-to-hotel building is nice. I mean, they had change it to hotel yet keep the spirit of it as a former prison house. Obviously the room is for one person only, but at least the paint makes it looks unique.. And the bar with prison bars is really cute.

The innovative Germans had always been appreciated by one and all. The idea to transform a jail to a hotel is welcome. It is true that profit making is one of the reason but the motivation I think is not totally depended on that. It is somewhat seems to me a gratitude shown to the prisoners of the past, because whoever may be, they were human beings.
